LRL Construction utilizes crane-hoisted man-baskets to get a close
look at the rock and then crane supported drills to install an array of rock
bolts. Galvanized steel mesh is attached to the bolts in some areas to
retain smaller surface rocks.
Among the projects LRL Construction has completed for Rockfall
Mitigation includes:
- Burnside Tishner in Portland, Oregon in which we completed high
scaling, installed 3,000 LF of rock bolts and rockfall netting.
- Maryhill Rockfall in Maryhill, Washington where we installed
cable netting to protect the highway.
- Cape Cove Slide (Emergency work along Highway 101 near
Florence, Oregon where we drilled and installed 400 LF of micropile
walls, rock bolted 250 FT of rock face, installed 300 FT of cable
netting, used Ele slushier on hill side to clean and stabilize slopes,
installed 4,000 LF horizontal drains, constructed a 150 FT Driven pile
wall with tiebacks.
- White Pass Rockfall (Washington Department of Transportation) Rockbolts, Brugg Fence, gabion wire baskets and scaling.
- Other projects completed by LRL Construction, Inc. are Coles Corner,
Leavenworth, Washington and Cape Disappointment in Washington State.

Soil stabilization is the preservation or alteration of soil properties to improve engineering characteristics and performance of the soil.
Among the projects LRL Construction has completed for soil
stabilization includes:
The Capes 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Oceanside, Oregon, where we drilled and installed 60’ and 6” micropile Eboo nails, and shot 100 yards of steel fiber enforced shotcrete.
At the Sea Horse Motel in Lincoln City, Oregon, we installed Micro piles, soil nails with horizontal drains and shotcreted the hill side.
At Highland Heights in Seattle, Washington, we drilled and installed soldier pile wall and tie backs using shotcrete.

Shotcrete is a commonly used substance that LRL Construction uses
that is applied by pressure hoses. Shotcrete is concrete conveyed through a
hose and pneumatically projected at high velocity onto a surface. Shotcrete
undergoes placement and compaction at the same time due to the force with
which it is projected from the nozzle. It can be impacted onto any type or
shape of surface, including vertical or overhead areas.
LRL Construction has Shotcreted tunnels and hill sides for over 10
years throughout the USA (strength of 4000 PSI to 9000 PSI).
|
|
LRL Construction has completed multi-million dollar
projects for many railroads including Union Pacific, BNFS, Norfolk Southern
Railway, Montana Rail Link, International Port of Coos Bay, Willamette
Pacific and Central Oregon Railroad. We specialize in working on live track.
We repair tunnels, bridge abutments, failing hill sides, culverts and we
also enlarge tunnels with clearance issues throughout the USA. We also work
for many local and state government agencies as well as private parties.
Tunnel Reconstruction projects include:
- Lakeside Tunnel. This project was an emergency tunnel fire where we scaled, rockbolted and did shotcrete. Also the KATKA Tunnel (BNSF) shotcrete, rockbolt and portal modification.
- KATKA Tunnel (BNSF) project consisted of shotcrete, rockbolt and portal modification.

LRL Construction has over 35 years of rock bolting
experience working in tunnels, on hill sides and embankments and creating
abutments for bridges.
